If you are looking for a combination of power and fuel efficiency in a car then Outlander PHEV is the car you should consider. Unlike the normal small hybrid cars, PHEV gives you combination of Hybrid, EV and petroleum technologies in one car hence good for travelling for long distance. It means you can travel to Kisumu without wondering where to charge you car because in absence of EV charging facility on the way the hybrid and petrol kicks in until you arrive at your destination.

A fully charged PHEV can travel for about 35km before the EV charge gets depleted and it takes about 40 minutes to charge the battery up to 80% charge. The company does not recommend full 100% charging or using the car up to zero value when travelling. This ensures an increase in the battery’s lifespan. The car new design gave the car some impetus in the market. Interior did not receive major facelift and so is the engine. It remain the usual 2400 Mivec petrol engine whose fuel consumption has been reduced by the introduction of PHEV plug in.

How Powerful is Outlander PHEV?

Power is guaranteed thanks to its 2400cc that can produce 203Horse power (149 kW) and  a torque of 332NM with petrol engine along producing 220Nm and the rest is boosted by the electric part of the car (PHEV).  The car can accelerate to 100km/hr in 12 seconds only.

It is currently one of the most preferred cars in Nairobi because it can serve both long distance and town service as well.

Mitsubishi offers up to 10 year battery warranty with 200,000kms being the expected lifespan of the battery. However driving habits and service history of the battery will determine whether the battery last for more than 200,000kms or less than the said mileage.

Features in the car

The notable features you will find in the car include 7 airbags, 2/4WD selector, front and rear parking sensors, Lane departure assist, seat warmers, paddle shifters for tiptronic mode and the car also has day running lights, fog lights and a spacious leg room, steering warmer, powered tail gate and sport mode selection button among other features.

The car has also changed its hand brake to now electric parking brake and parking has been made more secure thanks to its parking sensors that comes with rear camera. Rear spoiler is also another notable feature in the car. The car has a big boot that is capable of carrying more than two big suit cases.
